Can A Dentist Really Treat My Sleep Apnea?
Yes. Many problems with Sleep Apnea and snoring have to do with blocked air passages through the mouth. Dr. Siegel has the experience and know-how to adjust a patient’s bite and teeth, which can open up blocked airways.
Dr. Siegel has advanced specialty training to treat Sleep Apnea. He is a member of the American Academy of Sleep Medicine and the American Sleep Apnea Association. Additionally, he is an accomplished advanced Neuromuscular Dentist. This is a branch of dentistry that focuses on treating problems with the muscles, nerves and joints in the face and jaw.
By combining the principles of Neuromuscular Dentistry with simple, non-invasive treatment for Sleep Apnea and snoring, Dr. Siegel can help you get the care and the sleep your body needs.

What Does A Sleep Apnea Dentist Do?
Dr. Siegel treats Sleep Apnea by conducting a thorough evaluation of each patient. To begin, follow these three simple steps:
Step #1 – Fill out Dr. Siegel’s Sleep Survey Questionnaire
Before Dr. Siegel can begin treating you for Sleep Apnea or snoring, you will need to fill out a Sleep Survey Questionnaire and the Epworth Sleepiness Scale. Your answers help Dr. Siegel understand the exact problem and symptoms you are experiencing. Click here to go to Dr. Siegel’s Sleep Survey Questionnaire, which will be sent directly to our office.
Step #2 – Schedule an Initial Consultation with Dr. Siegel
After you’ve answered the questions on Dr. Siegel’s Sleep Survey, one of our staff members will contact you to schedule an Initial Consultation. During this consultation, he will conduct a thorough oral exam and look for any indicators in the teeth and jaws that could be affecting your air passages.
Before your initial consultation, if you have had a sleep study, we would want to see a copy of it. You can get us the information or we can request it from your sleep clinic.
After your initial consultation the next step may be to conduct a home sleep test if you have not had one done in a sleep clinic.
Step #3 Testing
After your Initial Consultation and exam, the next step may be to conduct a Sleep Test. Because Dr. Siegel can provide you with a special FDA approved sleep test machine to use, you can take this test while you sleep comfortably at home in your own bed. You won't have to go into a clinic and sleep in a strange location in order to have your sleep professionally analyzed.
Your test results will be analyzed by a Board Certified Sleep Medicine Physician and will include such factors as:
- how long you sleep
- what position you sleep in
- your breathing patterns
- how much of your sleep is deep sleep
- snoring and disruptions
Step #4 Treatment
Dr Siegel believes in using non-invasive methods and appliances to treat Sleep Apnea whenever possible. Once Dr. Siegel receives the results from your Sleep Test, he can recommend and begin your treatment.
Treatment may include the use of comfortable, custom-made oral appliances that reposition your jaw as you sleep. When your jaw is in the correct place, your airways remain open throughout the night and you sleep soundly without disruptions. Learn more about Sleep Apnea and Snoring treatment.
